Winterize
your skin

exfoliate, hydrate, naturally radiate

It’s Canada, are you prepared? Have you winterized your skin? Harsh winter weather increases skin sensitivity making it look older and duller. Time to plan how to keep your largest organ soft, smooth and protected.

Consider this
Don’t overheat your home, keep it cooler to avoid unnecessary sweating. Use a humidifier to keep the air moisture above 30%. Hot baths even when it’s cold can dehydrate your skin. Use warm water when you bathe, limit them to a few times a week. Going out? Cover up, use gloves, hat and scarf. Keeping skin hydrated means taking care of your overall health by healthy eating, vitamins, antioxidants, no smoking and lots of water. Be sure to apply sunscreen and moisturizers.

Hands so soft
Hands take a lot of abuse, constantly exposed to hot and cold climates. If they are not cared for our hands will age faster. Practice hand saving tips:
• Add Witchcraft almond oil to dishwater to soften rough skin and seal in moisture.
• Wash using warm water and mild soap for only 15 seconds. Pat dry with a soft towel.
• Moisturize frequently, especially after washing. Use a hand cream like Natural Earth Vit A Silk Fragrance Free Moisturizing Hand Cream. The glycerine, chamomile and silicone formulation seals moisture in, softens the skin and provides a non-greasy protective barrier.
• Exfoliate hands once a week. Use ready made products or make your own with sea salt mixed with lemon juice. Brush onto hands to remove dead skin cells.
• Treat yourself to a paraffin wax treatment to soften hands, increase blood circulation, improve skin colour and ease joint stiffness.
• Heat penetration treatment. Apply a mixture of 1 tsp honey and olive oil to slightly damp clean hands under plastic gloves. Cover with cotton gloves for 30 minutes.
• Strengthen nails, hydrate skin. Microwave a cup of milk for 30 seconds, soak hands 5 minutes.
• Apply a good moisturizing cream or oil into your nails and hands nightly.
• Or apply petroleum jelly to hands and cover with cotton gloves while you sleep.
• Wear rubber gloves to minimize water and chemical damage.

Make those nails grow
Exfoliate nails and cuticles, rinse with warm water. Use an orange stick to gently push back cuticles. Keep the nail plate flexible and strong by applying Witchcraft Moisturizing Nail & Cuticle Gel with an anti-fungal agent. To rejuvenate the nail matrix nightly apply a nail renewal product to bare nails, seal in moisture with almond oil.

The perfect time
Nourish and replenish your skin by giving it the care it deserves. Rehydrate your skin by drinking 6 to 8 large glasses of water a day, eat a healthy diet, wear sunscreen, and use skin-care products to help maintain the water content in your skin. Exfoliate your whole body at least once a week while showering to remove dead cells allowing your skin to absorb extra moisture.
