Winning the school-wide speech competition in elementary school was just the first indication that Shannon MacDonald was destined for the world of Communications. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1990, she held several progressive marketing roles in the public, private and non-profit sectors – including positions with Olympia & York Properties, the Ministry of Housing and the Toronto Children’s Breakfast Club. Today Shannon is the Principal Consultant for Bliss Communications, a full-service corporate communications firm she founded in 1996. Clients rely on Shannon to evaluate programs, contribute to strategic planning, develop marketing and communication strategies and oversee the execution of communications tactics. Her roster of clients includes Intrawest, Parkinson Society Canada, Casey House, Pickering College, North York Women’s Shelter and Na’amat Canada – to name a few. | “I love what I do for two very specific reasons: first, I am always challenged by something new. Every project is unique and I constantly find myself in the most amazing situations to learn and grow,” says Shannon. “Secondly, and most importantly, I use my communications skills to bring focus to issues and ideas that really need attention. Most of my work involves issues like health care, education, and women’s issues. By helping advance these causes, I hope I’m a small part of creating a healthier and happier world.” Shannon lives in Toronto with her husband and two young daughters. She is an active volunteer within her community and deeply committed to being a positive role model for young women. Shannon can be reached at shannon@blisscommunications.ca.
